Staff Development

Teachers need to access to a variety of ongoing professional learning experience in order to meet the complex demand and rapid developments of the contemporary society. Teachers are also involved in developing school-based Chinese curriculum to suit the need of our students.

Induction Program is arranged for new teachers for orientation, adaptation and sharing. An innovative mentoring programme is being introduced to encourage best practice for beginning teachers.

Staff Development Day

The school has set aside three days each year for school-based staff development activities. The themes and topics chosen for the school staff development days are specific and relevant to the developmental needs of both the pupils and the staff. All teachers participate in a wide range of professional development activities, including workshops and talks by guest speakers, the sharing of learning outcomes among colleagues, school visits and so on. Additionally, teachers engage in personal professional development activities, initiated by individuals themselves, senior colleagues or the School Head. Teachers can also exchange views regarding major concerns of the school.

Peer Lesson Observation

To help teachers better identify the need for future professional development, lesson observations are arranged for teachers to observe each other’s methodology and to discuss the strengths and areas for improvement of their teaching styles. Teachers work in pairs and give feedback to each other. Thus, a collaborative culture is developed.

Co-planning Meeting

Co-planning meetings among teachers are held in different subjects and at different levels in order for a cohesive curriculum to be maintained.
