Introduction

The Primary Humanities curriculum is a vital part of primary education, encompassing six strands: Health and Living, Environment and Living, Money and Economics, Society and Citizenship, Our Nation and Me, and The World and Me, under the Personal, Social and Humanities Education domain. It aims to foster humanistic literacy by cultivating respect for every individual’s worth, self-value, care for others, appreciation of history, culture, beauty and nature, and commitment to sustainable development — building a caring, inclusive society and a better world, in harmony with the national vision of a shared future for mankind.

Objectives

  1. Promote physical and mental well-being, nurture positive values and attitudes from an early age, and develop confident, rational, and responsible citizens;
  2. Help students understand their roles and responsibilities in family and society, respect the rule of law, uphold law-abiding spirit, and contribute to the common good of society and the nation;
  3. Foster understanding of the nation’s history, geography, Chinese culture, and modern development, cultivate national identity and a sense of belonging, and inspire commitment to the nation and the world;
  4. Encourage concern for local, national, and global issues and their interconnections;
  5. Through education for sustainable development, cultivate care for the environment and the practice of green living.
